Cappuccino Thoughts is a weekly newsletter about culture and creativity in New York.

Welcome back! Thanks for being here. On Day 1, you came up with one or two areas you want to try to make time for. Today, you are going to research opportunities in your area and within your budget. 

Here are some ways to begin your research: 

-Check out the New Yorker weekly happenings.

-Look at the schedule for the 92Y in New York or City Arts & Lectures in San Francisco (or something similar in your city!).

-Follow Instagram accounts that aggregate events in your area.

-Look up a list of upcoming museum exhibitions near you.

-Check out community events like Reading Rhythms or Lectures on Tap that bring people together around a common interest.

Often, when budgets are tight, culture and creativity fall to the bottom of the list. Even when you’re more comfortable, it sometimes can make you feel guilty to spend money on “frivolous” things. Although I’d argue that culture and creativity feed the soul and are necessary to feel like a fully realized person, I’ve also learned some tips and tricks to make culture and creativity a daily act without breaking my budget. Here are some ideas:
